*Nail Files and Shiners ;

To shape natural nails or to prepare them for the use of artificial nails, recommend using an emery board.

- Emery boards are very gentle on natural nails. Emery File contains coarse and medium fine grits.
- For a complete manicure on natural nails, recommend using 4-Way Ultra Shiner.
- This file has 4 different grits. The medium side is used for shaping and filing the edge of the nail.
- The fine side is used to exfoliate the entire nail surface.
- The extra fine side is used to smooth the entire nail surface.
- The shiner side is used to add a healthy shine to the entire nail surface. No polish is needed.

- To shape natural nails, full cover nails, nail tips, and wraps, recommend File & Smoother and 2-Way Nail Shaper.
- File & Smoother has both medium and extra fine grits. It also boasts a thicker cushion for extra comfort.
- 2-Way Nail Shaper has medium and medium fine grits. The medium side is great for filing and shaping the nail edge, while the medium fine side is used to perfect the manicure.

- If you are sculpting with acrylics or gels, recommend using a coarse nail grit, such as dazzling Black files.
- These are durable, long lasting abrasives used to shape and file acrylics and gels quickly and easily.
- To finish acrylic or gel nails, recommend Finishing Block.
- This has both fine and extra fine grits. It is used to refine and smooth the nails, while being gentle enough on cuticles.
- Here are some helpful hints to make sure you are getting the best and safest use from your files.
- Be sure to hold the file at a 45 degree angle when blending a nail tip to your natural nail. By doing this, you are less inclined to file through the well of the nail tip or to damage the natural nail.
- It is also good to hold the file at a 45 degree angle when shaping the free edge of an acrylic or gel nail. This will give the artificial enhancement a more natural, tapered look.
- An easy way to work with a filing block is by holding it between the thumb and middle finger and gently rocking it back and forth across the nail. This will allow for better control and will provide a more natural shape.
- When shaping the free edge of the natural nail, be sure to file in only one direction. Filing in more than one direction can damage the nail.
- It is a good idea to push back cuticles before filing your natural nails. This will aid in quicker removal of extra cuticle when exfoliating the nail.
- Be sure to wait about 15 minutes after washing hands before filing your natural nails. Filing nails that are saturated with water can damage them.
